Alpha-arbutin |
Alpha-arbutin, is a potent skin-brightening ingredient known for its ability to fade discoloration and protect against environmental stressors. Arbutin is a natural ingredient found in plants such as marjoram, cranberries, blueberries, and pears, known for its skin-lightening properties. It works by reducing the production of melanin (the pigment that gives skin its colour) by blocking the enzyme tyrosinase. Studies have shown that α-arbutin can reduce melanin in skin cells without harming them, making it a safer and less irritating alternative to stronger skin-lightening agents.
