Birch tree bark extract is a natural ingredient derived from the bark of birch trees, particularly the white birch, also known as the Betula alba, silver birch (Betula pendula), and black birch (Betula lenta) species.

For centuries, birch tree bark has been used in traditional medicine due to its rich concentration of bioactive compounds that offer a range of health and skincare benefits. It is packed with beneficial compounds such as betulin, betulinic acid, salicylic acid, flavonoids and vitamin C, all of which contribute to therapeutic properties.

Birch tree bark extract has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and moisturising properties helping to improve skin clarity, soothe irritation, boost hydration and promote overall skin health.  Its anti-inflammatory effects can help the skin recover its protective barrier more quickly. Additionally, these compounds may speed up wound healing by promoting growth of new skin cells and improve the appearance of scar formation.
