Cassia alata, also known as Senna alata, is a plant that is native to tropical regions such as India, Africa, Malaysia and tropical America. The leaves of Cassia altata have been utilised in traditional medicine to treat a variety of skin conditions, and modern research has highlighted the benefits of Cassia alata leaf extract for skin health. The extract from the leaves of Cassia alata contains several active compounds, including anthraquinones, alkaloids and lavonoids which give the extract its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. These properties make cassia alata valuable for calming inflammation, treating infections and protecting against environmental damage. Additionally, it has the ability to improve skin hydration where skin is left healthy and radiant.
