Licorice Root Extract (Glabridin) |
Licorice root extract, which contains various compounds such as glabridin, is known to reduce the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in skin pigmentation. Glabridin, found in the root of licorice, acts as an antioxidant and has benefits such as protecting nerves, reducing inflammation and soothing eczema and itching. Another benefit of licorice root extract is that it also works as a skin-brightening agent. Glabridin has been shown to be 15 times more effective than kojic acid in reducing pigmentation.
