Selenium sulfide |
Selenium sulfide (SeS2) is an Anti fungal and is particularly effective against seboheric dermatitis. Selenium sulfide is used to treat dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and tinea capitis . It appears to have a cytostatic activity on the epidermis and follicular epithelium that reduces corneocyte production and subsequent flaking. The antimitotic action of topical selenium sulfide leads to a decrease in the turnover of epidermal cells. It also possesses antibacterial and antiseborrheic properties that potentially augment efficacy.
