Silymarin is a natural compound that comes from the fruits and seeds of the milk thistle plant (Silybum marianum), which is part of the Asteraceae family.

Silymarin has been used to treat various skin conditions, including melanoma, nonmelanoma skin cancers, rosacea, melasma, eczema, psoriasis, acne, and for wound healing as well as anti-ageing.

It protects the skin from sun damage by reducing the harmful effects of UV rays, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, immune responses, and DNA damage. Studies show that silymarin is safe even at higher doses and doesn't cause significant side effects.
