Zinc Pyrithione |
Zinc pyrithione is a zinc compound, widely valued for its potent antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Zinc pyrithione is particularly effective against fungi such as Malassezia, which is a common cause of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and other skin irritations. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a common skin condition affecting about 1–3% of people. In addition, zinc pyrithione itself significantly reduces scaling and inflammation. One study found that a 0.25% concentration of zinc pyrithione, applied twice daily, effectively treats plaque psoriasis. This powerful ingredient is a key component of Propaira’s SD Plus Shampoo.
