Bakuchiol is a natural ingredient found in the seeds of the Babchi plant,  Psoralea corylifolia. It has been used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine for its ability to reduce inflammation, fight bacteria, and help with acne. Regular use of bakuchiol can help improve skin texture, making it appear smoother and more even. It promotes healthy skin renewal by stimulating the shedding of dead skin cells and encouraging new skin cell growth. This process can reduce the appearance of roughness, uneven tone, and pigmentation issues, leading to a brighter, more radiant complexion.

Like retinol, bakuchiol can improve skin health by boosting the production of collagen and strengthening the connection between the outer and inner layers of skin. Although bakuchiol is not the same as retinol, it works in a similar way by influencing how certain skin-related genes function, giving it retinol-like effects.

Unlike retinol, which increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and is typically recommended for nighttime use, bakuchiol is stable in sunlight. This makes it suitable for use during the day, allowing users to enjoy its benefits without worrying about increased sun sensitivity. However, sunscreen should always be part of the routine when using any anti-ageing or skin-repairing ingredient, including bakuchiol.

Bakuchiol is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and it's a safe alternative for those looking to achieve a smoother, more youthful complexion without using traditional retinoids.
