Polidocanol (laureth-9)
  • Relieves itching
  • Soothes irritated skin
  • Supports skin barrier function
  • Improves the efficacy of moisturisers
  • Gentle on sensitive skin

Polidocanol is a synthetic fatty alcohol that is best known for and effective in treating itchy skin caused by conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema) and dry skin.  When the skin experiences unbearable itching, intense scratching often follows, leading to further skin damage. Polidocanol can be particularly helpful in the above conditions where scratching worsens the skin barrier and perpetuates inflammation. It works by numbing the nerve endings in the skin, which reduces the itch sensation. Due to the calming properties, polidocanol soothes irritation that can also be caused by minor skin allergies and insect bites. Additionally, its surfactant properties enhance the effectiveness of moisturisers.
